League Announcements – Week of 11/2

Good morning X-wing players!

The time has come, the time is now – X-wing World Champions are this week! For those of you looking to prepare for the clash of titans that is the world tournament, come on down to Mayhem Comics at 6pm to test your mettle.

For anyone else who’s just looking to get in some fun games, you’re welcome too! Us non-world attending schlubs will still be there to play, teach, and otherwise enjoy this awesome game.

We hope to see you there and of course, wish our World’s Competitors good luck! If you win, be sure the next card you design is super cool 🙂

Good afternoon X-wing Players!

Despite our loss of the TIE-HWK Trophy, the HOTH Charity Event was a spectacular success, with participants more than doubling the donations from last year and of course some excellent X-wing gameplay to make everything better.

Now, all we have is the 2015 Worlds Event coming up in just a few weeks. It’s time to come on down, hone your list, and get ready for the biggest X-wing tournament of the year. Mayhem Comics at 6pm is the first place to start and while some of us non-attendees will be doing some fun games (epic Raider!), there’s plenty of gaming to be had.

Good morning X-wing players!

Monday has arrived and with it comes some excellent X-wing play at Mayhem! The H.O.T.H. Charity Tournament is this Saturday so tonight is your last chance to practice before the big event. We hope to see you there!

With that in mind, we’ve decent sized crew locked in for the H.O.T.H. Charity Tournament filling up at least two cars. The plan is to meet at Mayhem Comics in Clive at 7am and carpool from there. I know the Ankeny crew already has a full car but the Des Moines group should have a set or two available. If you’d like to go the event but haven’t registered yet, head to the registration page and get yourself signed up. The tournaments is just a few days away and it’s going to be awesome 🙂

As far as a possible League with rules and a point system, we’re reviewing a few options beyond just a simple “x points for winning, y points for losing”. I wanted to float the idea of introducing some of the scenarios from the rule books. I’ve personally never played one but it could be a great way to mix it up for our regular Monday nights. If anyone has any ideas on how to handle that, post them to our Facebook page.

We’re still working on the details for the “Partners in Crime” tournament, with some fun rule variations at Rodman Comics, so stay tuned for updates!

Good morning X-wing players!

It’s another Monday and you know what that means – X-wing at Mayhem! The crew will be getting together tonight around 6pm for some X-wing Monday Night Madness and we hope to see you there! One of members, Kyle, had floated the idea of an official X-wing League with some rule variations and prizes for participation. We can discuss it further tonight but if that’s something people are interested in there’s a few options out there that we could try.

On a separate note, we’ve got around 6 people locked in for the H.O.T.H. Charity Tournament which fills up two cars. We’re sticking with the plan from last week – meet at Mayhem Comics in Clive at 7am and take off from there. If you’d like to go the event but haven’t registered yet, head to the registration page and get yourself signed up. The tournaments is less than two weeks away and it’s going to be awesome 🙂

League Announcements – Week of 10/5

Good afternoon X-wing players!

October has arrived and with it comes the chill of Fall and the promise of new ships on the horizon. Until those lovely Wave 8 Ships arrive, tide yourself over with our weekly games of X-wing. We’ve got Monday night gaming happening tonight at 6pm at Mayhem Comics in Clive, with Saturday afternoons at Rodman’s Comics starting at 1pm. The Ames Mayhem crew is still getting together semi-regularly on Sundays at noon so if you’re in the area and want to play some X-wing just post on our Facebook page 🙂

There’s also an Escalation tournament taking place this Saturday at Critical Hit Games in Iowa City. The event was posted to our Facebook page and you can find details on the tournament at the event page.

For the HOTH Charity Tournament coming up in a few weeks, we’re settling on carpools. Caleb Bailey, Nick, and Kyle have all offered there vehicles up for carpooling from the Des Moines area. The plan at the moment is to meet at Mayhem around 7am on 10/24 and decide who’s driving from there. In the Ames area, the other Caleb and his wife have offered to drive as well so as we get closer, just let us know if you’re coming so we can send you to the right people.
