It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is already here but don’t worry, you’re Des Moines area X-wing team still has you covered. We’ll be meeting up tonight at Mayhem Comics at 6pm for the usual X-wing madness.
Last week, we got to try out the surprisingly fun Heroes of the Aturi Cluster campaign. A big thanks to Sean Esser for running the game and if there’s interest future weeks we’ll definitely have to get together and keep leveling up our pilots.
In case you missed in on our Facebook page, Geek City has already posted their Store Championship, which is taking place on 2/27/16 up in Coralville, Iowa. You can find details about the event here, as well as in our Facebook feed.
Once we get word from Mayhem Comics, we’ll post details about our local store championship as well as any taking place at Rodman Comics in Ankeny.
There’s also a tournament taking place up in Iowa City this Saturday at Critical Hit Games. Check out the details on their Facebook page.

It’s hard to believe that 2015 World’s has already come and gone. Our local crew out up a valiant fight but Paul Heaver once again took home the championship with a very fun Poe, stressbot y-wing, TLT y-wing, and bandit list, proving once and for all that skill plays as much into this game as list-building.
We also will be saying goodbye to a very prominent member of our local community. Doug Kinney, AKA Hothie, is stepping back from X-wing to focus instead on his new venture – Ankeny Construction Toys. If you’re in the market for Lego parts, check out the link as he’s got the best variety in town 🙂
We’ll miss you Doug! Thanks for all you’ve done for the community and for your work in making “Fly Casual” the golden standard for X-wing play. The tables always open in case you ever want to stop by for a game!
And on that note, our Monday night is as vibrant as ever. We’ll be meeting at Mayhem at 6pm to throw down some fun lists now that Worlds has passed. Kyle and I were tossing around the idea of running some scenarios just to see how they play out. If anyone else is game, let us know below!

The time has come, the time is now – X-wing World Champions are this week! For those of you looking to prepare for the clash of titans that is the world tournament, come on down to Mayhem Comics at 6pm to test your mettle.
For anyone else who’s just looking to get in some fun games, you’re welcome too! Us non-world attending schlubs will still be there to play, teach, and otherwise enjoy this awesome game.
